History and Folk Use
Blue Vervain dates back to Ancient times. The root was used for Malaria and Dysentery in China. The stalk and leaves for blood conditions and for relieving congestion and helping to cleanse out body toxins. Blue Vervain was used as a cure all, and by some considered a sacred plant. This plant was credited with saving lives during Medieval Plagues.
Modern Day Blue Vervain
Blue Vervain is a natural tranquilizer, a mild laxative, causes perspiration and induces relaxation. Blue Vervain alleviates fevers, settles stomachs and produces and overall feeling of well being. It is one of the best herbs to use to help alleviate the onset of a cold, especially with upper respiratory inflammation of the lungs.
