Golden Seal Root has been used as an eyewash for infected & inflamed eyes quite effectively. The following combination & administration are from The Herbal Writings of Dr. John R. Christopher.

Eyewash for inflamed eyes:
1 tsp Golden seal, tincture (Hydrastis canadensis)
1 ounce Distilled water

Preparation:
Mix thoroughly.

Administration:
Use as an eyewash.

This is commonly repeated quite frequently.
I am not sure if a compress would be as effective.
As Blepharitis is commonly associated with bacteria (though there are many causes) using breast milk in the eyes may also help.
I hope this has been of some assistance to you.
