'black colon'

I was told by my gastro doc after my last colonoscopy that I have a 'black' or 'melenosis' colon. He also said that i have IBS with constipation. He put me on zelnorm for a while which did nothing to help with the constipation but did relieve some of the muscle spasms.

Any thoughts on a 'black' colon?
