I am experiencing a similar problem, but I also have a patch about an inch and a half in diameter near the crown of my head that is almost bald. I havent tried a lot of things yet, but have been rubbing tea tree oil on the spot at night, and started taking 600 mg. of Biotin everyday. The thinning seems to be better, but havent noticed a difference in the spot yet. I also am trying a Biotin shampoo/conditioner, you cant find them at health food stores, or specialty beauty shops. Hope you find something that works for you, good luck!
