In general we recommend that you rest 1 day a week from all herbs. However- we have found the Turkey Rhubarb formula to be the exception to this rule if you are battling chronic constipation. If you are suffering from chronic constipation & stop taking the formula 1-day a week- it gums up the works and takes a few days to get back on track.
If you are currently resting 1 day a week, this is probably the problem on the 2-3 days that you are having trouble.
The other possibilities are:
Diet- If you eat more mucous forming foods (meat, dairy, salt, sugar or bread) that you are having trouble, that may be the problem. If this is the case, monitor your diet. On the days that you more of these foods, remember to take an extra Turkey Rhubarb to keep things moving. Mucous forming foods cause constipation, and no matter how clean your colon is, if you a lot of these foods you’re going to need some extra help getting rid of them. On the other side of the coin- on the days that you eat mostly fruits & vegetables, or days that you fast, you probably won’t need as much of the Turkey Rhubarb formula.
Dehydration- Dehydration is one of the most common causes of constipation. Be sure you drink a full 8 oz. glass of water every time you take the Turkey Rhubarb formula. You will also benefit from increasing your water intake in general, try to get in at least a quart a day.
Medications- A lot of medications cause constipation. Most prescription meds are taken daily and would not cause this 2-3 day a week problem. If you do take a prescription medication only 1 or 2 times a week, remember to take an extra Turkey Rhubarb that day to help compensate for any constipating effects from the medication.
Usually after about a week on the Turkey Rhubarb formula, you can set you watch by it, so the inconsistency you are experiencing is very unusual. If none of these factors apply to you, and you are still having trouble-please call me so I can do my best to help you.
