Part 2. Constipation:
The root of 101 diseases

I now present an exclusive interview with a little-known colon expert named Joseph Seters. Mr. Seters is a 73-year-old practicing herbalist who lives near Las Vegas. He has also been a practicing Iridologist for over 15 years. This is the science of reading the eyes to diagnose health problems. Mr. Seters uses the same colon formula as Mr. Eli but in a different manner.

“The most important question the doctor never asks:
‘How many times do you go to the bathroom?’”

QUESTION: Are most people constipated?
SETERS: Most people are, but they don't see it that way. Men will say, “No, I'm not constipated, I have one bowel movement a day.” Women will say, “I'm not constipated, I have a bowel movement every other day.” But these are false interpretations of constipation. If you don't have a bowel movement after every meal, you're constipated. This means a good 90% or more of the people are constipated.

QUESTION: How many bowel movements a day should a normal person have?
SETERS: If you have three meals a day, you need three bowel movements a day. If you don't, something's very wrong. Many people go once a day. This means every day they miss two movements. In one week's time, you miss fourteen movements.

QUESTION: I heard of a young minister out East who said he had a bowel movement once every 3-4 days. Do you hear many cases like that?
SETERS: All the time. This is one thing I have really noticed. You go to a doctor and two of the most important things he doesn't ask you are: “What do you eat?” and “How many times do you go to the bathroom?” How can you possibly feel good if you are carrying a whole belly-full of stinking, toxic garbage?
I had a woman patient tell the doctor, “I am only having a bowel movement every 4-5 days.” He responded, “This is your natural rhythm.” What an answer! Let's say you go every four days. That means twelve meals are being stored up, rotting and sticking in the gut until you get rid of it.

“A HORSE THAT BECOMES
CONSTIPATED WILL USUALLY DIE!”

QUESTION: What's the longest you ever heard of a person not going to the bathroom?
SETERS: I have known women who went to the bathroom only once a week. One went to the doctor and complained. The doctor gave the same type of answer, “There's nothing wrong. That's your normal rhythm.” I even knew a woman who went only once every ten days. She was in horrible shape. The longer the food stays in you, the worse you get. You become a walking septic tank. If you're constipated, you deserve to be sick.
A horse, when it gets constipated, will usually die. I saw this horse once who was just laying down and preparing to die. The vet came and just reached up the horse's colon and cleaned it out with his gloved hands. He pulled out all that garbage. Then he put some water in there and washed it out. The horse then stood up and lived. But I've seen horses die when their colon was not cleaned out.
Constipation won't kill you directly, but it starts wearing the body down and all your organs become susceptible to decay. Then you become sick.

QUESTION: Why does constipation make you sick? Can you explain that more?
SETERS: When your food goes through the large intestine, the moisture should be pulled out of the food. Your body is trying to re-use the liquid. But a lot of times it can't because there are still chunks in the food, so it starts to rot.
To make matters worse, all the rotting fluids are pulled back in the body. When it goes to your heart, you say, “I don't have enough energy.” When it goes to your brain, you say, “I can't think very well today.” When it goes to your liver, you say, “I can't get the poisons out of my food.” And this is all caused by the stinking liquid that comes out of the rotting fecal matter. Unless we get rid of this, we become a cesspool and we start smelling like a cesspool.

QUESTION: If you were healthy, would there be a lot of stench in the bathroom?
SETERS: If you are a healthy person and are having three healthy movements a day, you should not be able to smell your gas. I could sit here and pass gas and you wouldn't even know it. That's how I can tell if I don't feel well. When the stools stink, I know I'm sick. The horrible smell comes from undigested food.
When you feel gas rumbling in your stomach, you know your food is fermenting. It isn't digesting, it's fermenting. This is not good. They are complete opposites. There should be a little fermenting but not much.

QUESTION: Why do people get so much smelly gas?
SETERS: It's often caused because they don't chew their food. Even healthy foods, like raw watermelons, can cause gas if you gulp them without chewing. That's why we were given our back teeth--to mash the food and chew it. The old-timers said, “Take twenty bites on each mouthful.” When you don't chew your food properly, there is nothing to break it down so it goes to the colon and ferments.
